Fishing
You can fish salt water species all year round. The ocean is ice free in wintertime. Cod is the most common fish to catch. The amount and size is seasonal dependent. From approximately February to April the fjord can be filled with cod herding. The record so far fishing from the kay is 16 kg!
Halibut, catfish and king crab are also swimming around in the fjord (Refsbotn).
We can offer solid boats for deep sea fishing.
The smallest is a 16 feet open boat (Sigerfjord) and sizes varies up to 28 feet (Malo and Selfa). Most of the boats are equipped with fish finder end GPS. Check pictures for additional details or give us a call.
The season for fly-fishing in Russelva (salomon and sea-trout) starts in June and ends in August. Russelva is a relatively small river and the fishing license is not too expensive.
There are plenty of small lakes around Kokelv. Most of them inhabited by trout or røye.
The most spectacular fishing can be experienced just after the ice has melted. Usually late May/early June depending on height above sea and the weather. The season ends around September. Ice-fishing is best in April / early May. You can start as early as December/January but that is going to be cold and dark!
Hunting
Grouse hunting is very popular in Norway (From 10. September to 10. March). Although the amount is different from year to year we can almost guarantee that you will find birds in the mountains surrounding Kokelv if you put some effort in it. And the best thing is that you will get a fantastic experience of wild nature for free. Nothing clears a stressed up brain more than taking a long hunting trip!.
Hiking
Fill up your backpack and take a walk! Bring your fishing rod or go looking for wild berries. Or maybe you simply want to enjoy the wide open spaces of Finnmark.
We can guide you or arrange with other to do so.
Dog sled riding/snowmobile
We do not keep dogs our self but can arrange this with other companies. The same applies for snowmobiles.
Take a week off and stay with us. There are miles after miles with snowmobile tracks waiting for you!
Outdoor "jacuzzi"/sauna
In spring 2005 we expect the outdoor Jacuzzi to be ready. Soon thereafter the sauna should be operational.
What about a long day on the ocean followed by a hot bath in salt water on the tip of the kay?
